There's often a feeling of sadness when we transition from the holidays and into the new year. Our December was so busy, however, that I actually began to look forward to January. The only thing that bothered me about leaving the holidays behind was how visually dull January appears once all the Christmas paraphernalia has been put away. One of the books that John gave me this year was a book about Hygge and it's the perfect solution to the dreary darkness, especially if you live in a cold climate. Every night, we've been lighting candles, I've been baking unappetizing looking desserts that taste better than they appear, and we're enjoying the cozy festivity of winter. Except for Atticus whose only focus has been growing his paws as big as he possibly can.
